Tips for SLPS with clients who stutter

Tips for SLPsEpisode #172: Tips for SLPs! I ask a few of my friends who also stutter to share their tips for speech language pathologists.

Topics include community involvement, giving stuttering a try, treating your clients as people, relapses and disfluency are natural and nobody’s fault, stuttering may not be a factor for every client, fluency isn’t the be-all/end-all – in a nutshell, there is more to life than simply being fluent.

For more insight into what it’s like to live with stuttering, check out my book, Stuttering is Cool: A Guide to Stuttering in a Fast-Talking World. While it’s an illustrative self-help book for people who stutter, I go into detail on how to deal with and tackle the social pressures involved with stuttering. No wonder my book has been included in the SLP programs at Dalhousie University and the University of South Carolina.

My book also makes a great gift for clients! Check out my SLP section for details on bulk order rates.
